My God, I suck at this…

OK, so it's been like a year or so since I've posted to the blog. A lot has happened, so allow me fill ya'll in.

We finished the first 4 episodes of Cult 11 and had a rockin' screening party at Jon's place in LA earlier last month. He'd catered it with some solid Pilipino food and a big screen TV for the screening. About 30 or 40 people were there and from my perspective, all had a great time. Keeping the collective fingers crossed that he can interest some influential folks to help get it brought to the cable channel masses.

Right after I shot my Cult 11 episode I Wrote/Directed/Produced…etc the short film Little Boba. I had originally intended to submit it to the Stella Artios short film contest at TriggerStreet, but after some inspection of the rules I decided to go it alone and see if I could get it viewed the regular channel way (online and fests). It has been submitted to about 11 fests with some disappointing results but ironically, has been very well received online. Close to 500 people have seen the film so far (as far as I can tell) and I've had a GREAT response from the vast majority of those I've spoken with about it. Go figure. If you haven't seen it…well what are you waiting for? It's only 00:07:49…so go NOW! Let me know if you were entertained!

I also helped to start and continue a project, using some of the LRP PlayCast system, with some of the members of TriggerStreet. It's called Trigger Readers Theatre. Essentially, we are producing audio recordings of screenplays from the TriggerStreet Screenplay of the Month lists. With a little bit more pizzazz and tech coolness…our actors are recording simultaneously from all over the US and the recording sessions are being broadcast LIVE! We are currently getting a decent 16k recording rate with much higher rates to come soon. Best of all, Creative Screenwriting magazine interviewed some of us for an article in the March/April issue! Check out page 8 at http://creativescreenwriting.com/csonline/march-april.2010.issue.pdf

OK nuff for now. More to come!

Does anyone really read these ?

Just checking. Hehe.

Another quick update (are there really ever any LONG ones...I mean come on!)
I just finished the first rough cut of the Cult 11 episode that I directed last month. It's looking pretty cool. I can't wait to see it in the context of the entire series. Russ is going to direct the next episode scheduled for March 28th. I'll post the info on the series when it becomes available.
I'm still trying desperately to get my short script for the Stella Artois project finished. It is coming down to the wire and I'm getting very nervous! It's the dillema of having to run a company while you try feverishly to persue your creative career. I guess it could be worse so I'll stop my complaining there.

As always...Thanks

It's all good.

Scott here...just a quick update on the happenings in and around my life. I'll be in LA next weekend to visit friends and family as well as direct a short film for my good friend John Ouvrier. The short is part of an on-line series called Cult 11 (more details and where to go to see it later.) If there is anyone out there that even reads this blog, and wants to help out on the shoot, email me here or leave a comment on the forums.
I'm also in the throws of writing a script for a short film competition over at Triggerstreet (www.triggerstreet.com.) It's sponsored by Stella Artois and is giving away 50,000 to the winner. That's right 50,000 for a short film. Who says these "little" films can't make money. hehe. I hope to start shooting later this month to beat the deadline for submission of June 9th. Anyone interested in helping out on this shoot, see above.
Thanks again to all those out there that support my neurosis.

Scott

It's Official

We finally got the official date and time for The Intermission Man screening at the Phoenix Comic Con (and only a day beforehand too. :) ) It will screen on Thursday the 22nd at 7:30 pm. Needless to say I won't be there and neither will Kevin. He will be up here in NorCal shooting a commercial at the end of this week. He is the working actor of the bunch.
On a related note, you should check out his podcast "The Kevin Gregg Show". It is all about his experiences as an actor in LA. Really good stuff!

More to come, so stay tuned!

www.laughingraven.org

The Intermission Man lands in the top 20!

The Intermission Man placed 17th in the June Ourstage.com competition. Special thanks to all who visited the site and took the time to vote. It really does mean a lot to us. Stay tuned for more cool stuff coming from the LRP crew.

On a side note, I chopped the sideburns. Yes, I know they will be missed by most who had a chance to experience them, but rest assured, as soon as the money comes in for the full production of Blink...they will return! :) Keep visiting the LRP site for the Blink trailer. It should be done and available in the LRP Theater very soon.

Thanks again to all the folks out there who keep up with the productions and help out in a pinch. As well as those who take the time to watch, comment and come back for more of our stuff here. You'll never understand how incredibly important you are, not only to my film work, but to my mental health as well.

Keep on truckin'

Ah well...maybe next time

Well...the Act2 Ultimate Video Relay results were finally posted and my script didn't make the cut. Ah well, next act maybe. If any are interested, here is my Act 2 take on The Cube (you'll need Adobe Reader to see it). This "Relay" is an interesting idea and creates an interesting dilemma when writing. How to get all the info needed to progress the story in 5 pages or less. I think the Act 3 script will have an easier time, because the continuity won't need to be as stringent. Fun Fun.
On to more pressing matters. :)
I'm sooooo good at this.
So it's nearly a year later and I'm adding another blog entry. Goes to show how much I use the technology I support. Anyway, I got back from NY after having an AWESOME time on set with Russ, Craig and all the crew. The doc has been finished already (you can see it in the LRP Theater) and it looks great! The editor Justin Bird did a fantastic job of piecing together the footage.

Not much else happening on the filming front. We were set to go with principal photography on "Blink" and the money fell through. I have even grown some pretty thick mutton chops for the shoot. I'd also planned to cut about 10 inches of length from my hair. So now I'm planning to shoot a small trailer for it and cut these danged side burns. I look like a Welsh sailor.:) When summer hits I'll be sweatin like a pig out the side of my face. OOOOO..

In the meantime...Both "The Intermission Man" and "Shakespeare's Dead" are viewable from their IMDB web sites. And "The Intermission Man" will be screening at the AOF festival in July.
More to come (hopefully not a year from now though):)
Sittin in the Sac Airport

I'm chillin' here in the airport waiting for the plane to leave from NY to pick me up. It was supposed to leave from here at 11:59pm, but it's looking like we won't get in the air until 3am. zzzzzzzzzz.
I'm headed to NYC to assist in the making of the BTS doc for Russ Emanuel's new film "Driven". He was gracious enough to ask as well as pay for me to come to NY and shoot for the last 2 weeks of shooting. I really looking forward to it. I've never been to the Big Apple.
While I'm there I'm going to hook up with Chris Vallone (another very talented director) as well as my old friend Doree Green (she's married now, but I don't know her new last name :( ). I haven't seen Doree in about 12 years and am REALLY looking forward to catching up and meeting her family.
Soooo.....back to sitting and waiting.

Scott
