Informational stuff and insights from the LRP folks.

I open my email yesterday and check it out!

==========
This is Susan Campos.  I am a programmer with the Action On Film International Film Festival.  One of our screeners saw your film, Shakespeare’s Dead on the web and I am writing to invite you to submit your film to the 2006 AOF Festival.  Should you submit the film, it is guaranteed to be shown at the 2006 show which will take place at the beautiful Long Beach Convention Center from July 28-30 as part of the Internationals Weekend.

We got an invite! So it looks as if the film will be screened in Long Beach at the end of July! I'll keep updatting the blog to let everyone know what's up.

Quantum Physics at work!

Wow, four months since the last entry. Ah, well I'M BUSY DAMNIT! Just excuses.

I finished editing the film about two weeks ago and submitted to Triggerstreet with Kev's blessing on the 14th. So far we've got 1 review with about 15 views. To my surprise, the review was pretty good! I've had a bad feeling that this film is going to have a hard time finding an audience, but maybe I've just seen it too much. I uploaded it to Myspace www.myspace.com/laughingravenfilms this week as well, but don't expect to hear much from there. It is buried behind The Intermission Man and may be kinda hard to see right away. Most people who view the films there never leave a review or comment either.

Oh well, more to come!

LAUGH SCOTT!!!!

Lucky me, Kev came up to Chico for New Years. We got together yesterday (1/2/05) and had a looping session to try to get some of the poorest recorded dialog fixed. It went well, but I believe I'm getting to the point where I feel underwater. I just want the ability to get this stuff done now! Oh well, learn, learn, learn!

As soon as I get the first edits done, we're going to preview it to a few friends. Hopefully we'll get some brutally honest opinions so I can decide if it's something we want to finish and post.

Onward and upward.

Leave it to me to not post to my own blog for a month!. Let me bring you up to speed.

The thursday shoot at Lori and Kevin's house went great! Lori you are a brilliant actress and consumate pro! We got the shot in 3 takes.

The next day (Friday) Kev and I went to Mexico for my shots. It was a great trip, very relaxing. Much needed for both Kev and I (we were pretty beat from the weeks festivities.)

I got back home and captured the remaining footage, but was dissapointed in the audio quality on most of it. So I've spent the last few weeks adjusting and fixing the audio. I got the full rough cut done last week and now am tweaking some of the areas that still need it.

See you next time!

Well kids, a lot has happened in a day. Yesterday (wed) morning Katrina called to say she had a tremendous migraine and would be unable to shoot. So we scrapped the shoot and waited to see what would happen. I was feelin mightly low, so I went to the Norton Simon with Kristen. It was great. I love that place. It is humbling to see the works of the greatest visionaries of our species. Genius really is in the details.

I decided to come back, capture everything and get started editing. Sound was terrible in most of the wide shots but OK in some of the medium ones. So I cut it without either charfeacter in the shot at the same time. It has changeed the vision of the room that I had, but I think it makes the tension much greater. I'm going to pass it by Kev today and see what he thinks.

In the meantime Kev called Lori who said she could shoot today (thurs) for a couple of hours. So hopefully with a cast cha ... Read More »

The shoot went great! Kev and I started setting up at Tony's office around 8am. Kat, Lori and Pete got there a 'round 9:30 or 10 and we started shooting at 10:30. The whole thing was shot in about 6 hours. WHEW! Absolutly couldn't have done it without their help. Thanks a million you guys.
Kev and I watched the dailys when we got back to K&T's house. All looks pretty good. We have a morning shoot tomorrow at Katrina's to get the final scene. After that I think I'm going to take a nap.

Things just keep getting better. Kev and I drove all over town today picking up the remaining stuff for the shoot tomorrow (I think we actually got everything) Lori called to let us know that she had a fog machine that we could use for the shoot. And, while we were out Pete called to let us know he could be there to help (what a guy!)

So we are now a cast of three and a crew of three.

Kev and I also met with Katrina at her house. WOW! What a cool pad! We decided that we are going to shoot her scene there. The room we are shooting in, is a study with a big fireplace and built in bookcases, and motorcycles! It is going to be very cool!

Tommorow should be a hoot!

I'm back! Had a fairly eventful trip, but the knee feels great (a bit sore but great). I went straight to Kev's house whe I got back and we got started workin'.

We had a great reading last night. It was really cool hearing it out loud for he first time. Timing was there, characters were there, it was awesome! We also found out that Katrina's husband's operation was postponed, so it looks like we are going to shoot on schedule with her.

We have been incredibly lucky with our crew. Lori just happened to go on hiatus so she is penned in for Tuesdays shoot. She is also going to bring her 20 some odd inch monitor. Kat is also set to be there so it looks like we are going to have at least 2 or 3 people to help out.

Only a couple more days to the shoot!

Well, I made it to Santa Clarita! The shoot starts on Tuesday and everything seems to be falling into place, with a few minor exceptions.

Kev picked up the 9mm Glock (with a nice orange barrel tip. Apparently looks really cool!) from his friend Matt yesterday. A million thanks to you dude! He called me from the freeway to tell me he was driving home with it in the glove compartment.(doesn't everyone in LA have one in their glove compartment??)

I'm going to Mexico tomorrow morning for my knee treatment, but am going to be back in town on Saturday night. Kev and I plan to start aquiering the rest of the acutraments over the next couple of days.

We found out today that Katrina's husband is going in for surgery on Monday, so we're going to have to postpone the final scene shoot untill Thursday.

It's all coming together like butt cheeks!

I think we're finally cast! It looks like the part of the Woman will be played by a great actress and better friend Katrina Alexy. This shoot is going to have to double as a reunion.

Kev drove to Santa Clarita today to get some photos of the location. We are going to shoot at my brother in-law's pysician's office. He was gracious enough to let us use his workplace for the entire day. It was a stroke of luck that the office is closed on the first day of the shoot. I'll post the pics as soon as Kev gets them to me.

Onward and upward. I'm beginning to think this will actually come together. :)
