Informational stuff and insights from the LRP folks.

By scobee on 2/25/2007

On Feb 25th and 26th, I had the great pleasure of working with Russ Emanuel on his first feature film "PJ". It was a blast to say the least. I'm currently working on editing the footage I shot during the shoot, for a mini-doc that should be included with the film's DVD. Check out some of the pictures of the shoot here

We are pleased to announce that "Shakespeare's Dead" has not only been chosen to screen, but has been nominated for Best Short Film at the Pumelo Independent Film Festival. We are EXTREMELY excited to say the least. Thanks again to everyone for the continued support. More to come...

It truly was a surreal moment. I had absolutly no expectation we'd win and when they said "and the winner is .... Shakespeare's Dead" I didn't think I'd heard them correctly. I literally sat for a couple of seconds dumbfounded. I can't recall exactly what I said, but the festival producers said the video of the ceremony will be aired at currenttv.com sometime soon. So if anyone wants to see me stammer through an acceptance speech, it should be there soon.
As always thanks for everyones love and support through it all.

Totally incredible and shockingly true, Shakespeare's Dead has been nominated for Best Score at the Action on Film International Film Festival. The nomination came as a huge surprise and kudos must go to Jami Sieber and Allan Vilhan (Cargo Cult), the composers of the music. You can hear more of their work at www.magnatune.com.
Thanks again to all and keep checking back for updates on the fest.

I was informed today that "Shakespeare's Dead" is an Official Entry in the Action On Film International Film Festival. Wow what a trip! There is no word yet on the screening time, but it will be the 28, 29 or 30th of July at the Long Beach Convention center. Kev and I are planning to attend the whole shebang. If anyone is in the neighborhood and feels like going, I'll be posting our screening time here as well as the Without a Box website ( http://audience.withoutabox.com/films/shakespearesdead )

I open my email yesterday and check it out!

==========
This is Susan Campos.  I am a programmer with the Action On Film International Film Festival.  One of our screeners saw your film, Shakespeare’s Dead on the web and I am writing to invite you to submit your film to the 2006 AOF Festival.  Should you submit the film, it is guaranteed to be shown at the 2006 show which will take place at the beautiful Long Beach Convention Center from July 28-30 as part of the Internationals Weekend.

We got an invite! So it looks as if the film will be screened in Long Beach at the end of July! I'll keep updatting the blog to let everyone know what's up.

Quantum Physics at work!

Wow, four months since the last entry. Ah, well I'M BUSY DAMNIT! Just excuses.

I finished editing the film about two weeks ago and submitted to Triggerstreet with Kev's blessing on the 14th. So far we've got 1 review with about 15 views. To my surprise, the review was pretty good! I've had a bad feeling that this film is going to have a hard time finding an audience, but maybe I've just seen it too much. I uploaded it to Myspace www.myspace.com/laughingravenfilms this week as well, but don't expect to hear much from there. It is buried behind The Intermission Man and may be kinda hard to see right away. Most people who view the films there never leave a review or comment either.

Oh well, more to come!

LAUGH SCOTT!!!!

Lucky me, Kev came up to Chico for New Years. We got together yesterday (1/2/05) and had a looping session to try to get some of the poorest recorded dialog fixed. It went well, but I believe I'm getting to the point where I feel underwater. I just want the ability to get this stuff done now! Oh well, learn, learn, learn!

As soon as I get the first edits done, we're going to preview it to a few friends. Hopefully we'll get some brutally honest opinions so I can decide if it's something we want to finish and post.

Onward and upward.

Leave it to me to not post to my own blog for a month!. Let me bring you up to speed.

The thursday shoot at Lori and Kevin's house went great! Lori you are a brilliant actress and consumate pro! We got the shot in 3 takes.

The next day (Friday) Kev and I went to Mexico for my shots. It was a great trip, very relaxing. Much needed for both Kev and I (we were pretty beat from the weeks festivities.)

I got back home and captured the remaining footage, but was dissapointed in the audio quality on most of it. So I've spent the last few weeks adjusting and fixing the audio. I got the full rough cut done last week and now am tweaking some of the areas that still need it.

See you next time!
